Software 4.0
We are handing over more and more of the task of writing software code to LLMs, an era Andrej Karpathy calls Software 3.0.
It's not beautiful. It doesn't work at scale over time. And you might simply say it's not intelligent. My colleagues and I are defining and pioneering Software 4.0.

Bureaucracy invented modern identity. Bureaucracy commissioned computing. And so computing inherited a bureaucratic conception of identity — a profound obstacle to designing healthy sociotechnical systems.
I have presented my work on this topic at the RadicalxChange Conference on Decentralized Society, in Kernel community workshops, and at the Humanetics workshop series alongside Vitalik Buterin and Professors Margaret Levi and Bryan Ford.

Open Farming
The Stockholm Resilience Centre observed in 2016 that all the sustainable development goals are directly or indirectly connected to sustainable and healthy food.
In response, I conceived, designed, and developed Open Farming , securing partnerships with the EAT Foundation, the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy, and the P2P Foundation.
Open Farming identifies the malignancy of intellectual property rights in the eco-agri-food system. This 17th Century industrial age contrivance is woefully inadequate for the 21st Century knowledge age. Open Farming replaces monopoly rights under legal code with revenue share under software code.
Open Farming is adopted by the UN Environment Programme’s Good Food Finance Network .
The Business of Influence
I co-founded, built, and sold an award-winning technology communications consultancy working with some big brands (e.g. Mozilla, Sony, Fujitsu, ARM) and many small. Wiley invited me to write a book about my approach. Its publication led to my presenting the insights at Dreamforce 2011 and No. 10 Downing Street amongst other places.
